Sturdy, folds for portability, and has various height adjustments. It keeps posture in check, and it joined the kit after a sore neck from being hunched over on longer work trips.
Between ergonomics and user experience, a lot of thought goes into the studio’s gear! It’s taken years and some genuinely painful setups to build workspaces that work both at home and on the road. Below are links and images of the studio’s most used and most beloved gear. Sturdy, folds for portability, and has various height adjustments. It keeps posture in check, and it joined the kit after a sore neck from being hunched over on longer work trips.

The only keyboard in the studio. Portable, reliable, and wonderful to type on.

Magic Trackpads are in a league of their own. Unlike most other trackpads, not only do they actually feel great to use, but they’re also good enough that some desktop users replace their mice with them.

This mouse delivers the precision and speed the studio demands from an input device. Mouse speed gets turned WAY up here, beyond what the system allows without the command line, and the software that comes with this mouse makes those options easier to reach (even if 3rd party software for hardware configuration usually isn’t a favorite). As for its gaming performance?

Fits the Magic Keyboard 2, Magic Trackpad 2, and Logitech Mouse, with a leftover pouch for cables, a phone stand, and an AirTag.

A very slim and stylish backpack that somehow fits all the gear and snacks. And that’s all that it fits—no room for extras like in many other bags. The trade off is worth it for the look, the feel, and not feeling double-wide in crowded places.

Holds the MacBook Pro charger and cables while keeping the cables and plug quick to reach.

A portable battery that can charge every device in the bag, MacBook Pro included. It gets used sparingly with the MacBook Pro, out of a (possibly needless) worry about the MacBook’s longterm battery health.

A mini-hub / adapter for the MacBook Pro, and probably the most attractive one out there. It’s good 99% of the time, but can come disconnected a little more easily than you’d expect.

Simple but attractive-enough adapters for USB A connectors.

Another adapter, and admittedly one that rarely leaves the desk. It’s for SD / Micro SD cards. With more SD cards in the workflow, a different all-in-one hub would make more sense, but there basically aren’t any.

For tracking the backpack, different sets of keys, the car, and a few specific containers. The “Find My” interface for AirTags is more straightforward than the competing Tile products, and the network it operates on is presumably larger.

For portion controlled snacks. Mostly almonds.

Always in use on glasses and devices. They come in multi-dozen packs and live in pockets, bags, and the car.

Excitedly purchased at launch in November 2017, this iPhone X is still going strong almost 4 years later. That said, whatever the new iPhone is for 2021 is likely to replace it.
